Andre Normil one of Haiti’s most important and influential painters was born on September 26, 1934 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 1951 he joined the Centre d’Art. His works are included in the permanent collection of the Musee d’Art Haitien du College Saint Pierre in Haiti and the Milwaukee Museum of art in the United States. Andre is a remarkable natural draftsman, who finds delight in painting scenes of paradise, depictions of carnival and his famous Noah’s arks. His works were prominently featured in exhibitions held in England in 1969. Germany and Italy in 1970 and France in 1971. Past sales of works have commanded high prices at the Sotheby’s Parke Bernet auction House in 1975, 77, 79,81, 82 and Chrisitie’s auction house in 1995 and 1996.
