Description
Gary Vincent, born in Cap-Haitien in 1968, embarked on his artistic journey around 1980 when he joined the art cooperative “Arc-en-Ciel.” Founded by esteemed painters Laetitia Schutt and Max Gerbier, “Arc-en-Ciel” provided a nurturing environment for Vincent to hone his craft.
Growing up, Vincent shared a close friendship with Frantz Zephirin, who began his own artistic education as a child under the tutelage of his uncle, Antoine Obin. The two friends traveled together to Port-au-Prince in the mid to late 1980s, further immersing themselves in the vibrant Haitian art scene.
Gary Vincent is renowned for his exceptional technical skills and his ability to infuse his paintings with a surreal, spiritual quality. His work has been exhibited internationally, earning him recognition and acclaim in the global art community.
After a period of intense artistic activity, Vincent took a hiatus from painting and pursued a career as a police officer in Haiti. However, he has recently returned to his artistic roots and is once again creating compelling works of art.
Vincent’s journey, marked by his dedication to his craft and his ability to adapt and evolve, continues to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
