Description

Raymond Olivier – Two Figures

A striking large-scale work by Haitian modernist painter Raymond Olivier (1943–c.1980), depicting two seated figures within a highly stylized, geometric composition.

The painting demonstrates Olivier’s distinctive modernist vocabulary, with elongated figures, simplified facial features, overlapping geometric forms, and a predominantly blue, teal, brown, and muted red palette. Olivier developed this distinctive Cubist-influenced aesthetic during the 1970s, and his works are now relatively uncommon on the market.

At 48 × 36 inches, this is an imposing example of Olivier’s work, with considerably more presence than the smaller examples that occasionally appear on the secondary market.

Provenance: This painting was acquired directly from the siblings of Raymond Olivier in 2010. A gallery seal is present on the reverse of the canvas, providing an additional point of provenance for further research.

The painting is presented in fair vintage condition, with visible age-related surface wear and imperfections. Please review the photographs carefully for condition details.
